Goodbyes to Malibu

Notes App Poem 2
Inspired by Hole and Lana

Action

A last moment behind blue bars

I’m staring at you from the outside in

Spying beaches behind smudged walls

Dirty thoughts drowning in the snow

I can’t let bitterness ruin the flavour,

even for a summer that will never come

Malibu Blue

Underneath your banned cross in the back

I would hold you on my dead end knees

For you I’d offer up only the rawest of blood

feast on my offerings of flesh

chew on maggot bones for breakfast

Tasting tiny drops of fast running mud

Still buried six feet deep between my walls

I know I’d dig my grave there beside

I’d peel back patched up skin if broken insides could intertwine

I’d scrape out my eyes only to be let by you blind

I’d give you a sweeter taste of twice my burn in kind

I forgot about a dead flavour of forever in my pocket

It contained a key chain to my favourite crime

It might have been my worst pleasure

and the best torture of them all

to never call you mine

Behind your bars there is never enough room to stay

but dog days in Malibu remain the same

I hope you will see me

for coming winters of your life

a dirty Madonna caught in your blue light

down on her stripped knees

begging you to please not die
